Yes, on any opening you can reach comfortably with a pole. A pole-operated track shade costs a fraction of a motorized unit, it never needs power, and it works fine in a room with an eight or nine foot ceiling where the pole lives in a closet nearby. Above a two story space it stops being reasonable, because the pole gets long and unwieldy, and most people quit using it by the second season. That's the honest dividing line we use.
We test it at the measure rather than after the install. Radio range gets cut by masonry, by metal in the framing and by foil-faced insulation, and a skylight sits behind more of that than a window does because the signal has to get up through a shaft and past a header. Where it's marginal, a repeater goes in on the same floor and the problem disappears.
